About Alpine Diagnostics

What is Alpine Diagnostics?+

Alpine Diagnostics KlG is a family-run Swiss radiology practice headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. We specialize in expert interpretation of radiological imaging, with a focus on online second opinions for individual patients and teleradiology for medical institutions.

Are Alpine Diagnostics' radiologists licensed physicians?+

Yes. Alpine Diagnostics is fully licensed under Swiss medical law. Our radiologists are practicing physicians with an active Swiss medical license, working in Swiss hospitals. The Swiss physician certification system is among the strictest in Europe.

Is Alpine Diagnostics a diagnostic center or a hospital?+

No. Alpine Diagnostics is not an imaging center and does not perform scans. We specialize exclusively in the diagnostic interpretation of imaging already performed (MRI, CT, X-ray, mammography, and more).

Do you work with patients worldwide?+

Yes. Patients from any country can request a radiology second opinion through our secure online portal. We regularly work with patients from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, other CIS countries, and beyond.

How It Works

How do I send my scans for a radiology second opinion?+

Upload your DICOM files through our secure portal, it takes about 5 minutes, no appointment needed. We accept MRI, CT, X-ray, and mammography files, which you can get from your imaging center on a CD, USB, or via patient portal download. Most hospitals are required to provide copies on request, and the portal is available 24/7 in English, German, and Russian.

How quickly will I receive my radiology second opinion?+

Standard delivery: 72 hours. Priority delivery: 24 hours (+CHF 60). Average turnaround is approximately 36 hours. Your report is delivered securely through your account, with an email notification when ready. If a Priority 24h deadline is not met, the priority fee is refunded.

Trust & Data Protection

Who exactly reviews my scan?+

Every scan is reviewed by a Swiss board-certified subspecialty radiologist — not a generalist, not an AI, and not a technician. Your scan type determines which specialist is assigned: knee MRIs go to a musculoskeletal expert, mammograms to a breast imaging specialist, brain MRIs to a neuroradiologist. Our Medical Director, Dr. med. Oxana Smagulova, oversees quality across all cases.

Are you truly independent?+

Yes. Alpine Diagnostics is a standalone diagnostic practice. We are not affiliated with any imaging center, hospital, or surgical team. We do not perform imaging, and we do not recommend treatment. Our radiologists have no financial incentive other than providing an honest, accurate interpretation.

How is my medical data protected?+

All data is encrypted end-to-end and stored on Swiss servers under the FADP (Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection), one of the strictest privacy frameworks in the world.

Why should I trust a remote second opinion over an in-person consultation?+

Radiology is inherently a remote discipline — your radiologist already reads your scan on a screen, not by examining you in person. What matters is the specialist's expertise and the quality of the analysis, not physical proximity. Alpine's subspecialty matching means your scan is reviewed by an expert who focuses exclusively on that imaging type.

Using Your Report

Can I use my radiology second opinion report with my doctor?+

Yes. Every report is a formal radiological interpretation in the same professional format physicians receive from hospital radiology departments — detailed findings, clinical impressions, and follow-up recommendations, plus a plain-language patient summary.

What imaging types does your radiology second opinion cover?+

We review MRI, CT, X-rays, mammograms, and ultrasound covering all body regions — brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and musculoskeletal — including pre-surgery confirmation, oncology staging, breast imaging (BI-RADS 3–4), sports injuries, neurological imaging, whole-body longevity screening, and chronic condition monitoring.

What if the radiology second opinion agrees with my original report?+

That's a valuable outcome — you can proceed with your treatment with significantly greater confidence. Research shows radiology second opinions find clinically significant discrepancies in up to 30% of cases, so confirming the original reading gives you and your physician solid ground to proceed. There is no losing scenario in getting a radiology second opinion.

Pricing & Turnaround

How much does a second opinion cost?+

Pricing starts at CHF 120 for an Essential single-radiologist review. A Conscientious consensus reading by two radiologists costs CHF 192. Priority 24-hour delivery adds CHF 60.

How long does a second opinion take?+

Average turnaround is 36 hours. Standard delivery is 72 hours, with a Priority option for 24-hour delivery. If the 24-hour deadline is missed, the priority fee is refunded.
